Tigerhawk On Obama Vandalizers: “Not That I Expect Socialists To Respect Property, But Still”

Seems like blog pal Tigerhawk has been on the receiving end of the give-peace-a-chance crowd:

Sadly, even my four McCain signs were more than the local Obama supporters could endure. Twice in the last week somebody has come on to my property* and tossed two of the signs — those that are not easily visible from our front door, so we know the moonbat is a chickenshit — away from the road into the undergrowth. The first time he or she left the signs intact so I put them back up. This time the presumptive Obama supporter or supporters (for all I know there is more than one) tossed away the metal posts so I could not put them back up again. Fortunately, there are more where that came from.

For all the lovey lovey talk, Leftists sure do unloving, intolerant things. But it’s okay abusing “the other”.

I have some suggestions for folks that want to post campaign sings in their yard and not have to deal with sign stealers/tossers. I have experienced this in the past myself both in the 2004 campaign when I supported Bush over Kerry, and in 2006 when we had a local election get pretty heated.

In 2004 I had a number of signs stolen or ripped out of the ground, I resorted to using larger steel fence posts driven into the ground with a post-driver and some barwire. Heavy fenceposts like this are semi-permanent and not easy to remove at all, they take about 15 minutes to get out of the ground and require a concerted physical effort to do so. I put the posts in the ground then got some plywood to mount the signs on, and finally I put a nice border of gaucho barbwire around the signs and wrapped the posts in it as well. If you’ve never dealt with barbwire it’s painful to handle without heavy gloves, and Gaucho is a type of barbwire that’s lighter, sharper, and with a higher tensile strength than regular barbwire – it’s used for animals with tough skins or heave coats. Anyone trying to kick, pull, or grab the signs would find out pretty damn quick that it was a bad idea when they found themselves bleeding from the Gaucho. Oddly enough I’ve not had a seat stolen from the yard since.
