Let's consider McVeigh's political slant -- he was a die hard republican and a vet. While he was in jail he considered himself a "political prisoner" and, here it comes, a "prisoner of war". If he was ever going to donate anything to a political candidate, to whom do you think the money would go?!??! Don't get me wrong, I do not claim nor believe that there is any connection between a hero like McCain and that wacko, but such a donation could be spun in EXACTLY the same way as the charges being lobbied against Obama. The difference is that McVeigh killed 159 people, where as Ayers was never convicted of killing anyone. This is exactly the kind of not-too-well-thought-out, divisive tactic that could come back to bite you in the backside. At some point, we have to ask what makes us better than our adversaries.
