    If this is their attitude, I think they’re in for a rude awakening.

    At least I hope they will be. Americans have always had contempt for anyone trying to dictate and rule them. I hope they still do.

    He’s promised them bread and circuses, and they voted for bread and circuses. They’ll not revolt as long as they’re fat, dumb, and happy.

    And if they’re not, they’ll just be convinced that he needs more power and more time.

    Haven’t you ever seen anybody who’s being suckered by an unscrupulous contractor? They keep shelling out money while the work keeps not getting done, and the deeper in they get, the less likely they are to bail because they’ve already given so much to the guy that they just have to believe in him.

    I would agree with Christina. The Democrats have an interesting agenda. Bread and circuses indeed. Unless it gets super bad by 2010, I would say that the Democrats will make even larger gains in both Houses (and then they really will get that filibuster-proof Senate they keep dreaming of). And they can even blame it on Bush during that time (and the Senate Republicans if they stray too far out of line). No, it’ll be 2012 when the tide turns, if it does.
