Who Made Those Leaks Again?–UPDATED

November 11, 2008 / 1:23 pm • By Dr. Melissa Clouthier

During the campaign, vicious, nasty, vile, disgusting bilge got fed to the press and blogs, namely Andrew Sullivan and his buddies at Daily Kos, from the Obama campaign. Barack Obama always distanced himself from the smears, gravely clucking about the personal attacks. He undermined his above-it-all aura with his not-so-subtle flipping of the bird. His immature actions led me to believe that he probably had a whole lot to do with the nasty attacks–especially on Sarah Palin.

Well, now, he had a private talk with President Bush. And who gets the goodies about the content of the conversation? Why the New York Times and the AP. President Bush is upset, understandably.

How about that dignified Barack Obama? He’s looking pretty amateurish and silly right now. Even Bill Clinton has kept the contents of his personal presidential conversations personal.

And the Democrats shouldn’t sit there too smugly either. One of the things they’ve decried is the supposed cozy relationship of the administration with the press. You know…those well placed stories convenient to the president’s cause. Doesn’t this little episode demonstrate the extent of this incestuous relationship?

UPDATED:

Obama the Statesman:

I mean, the guy hasn’t much government experience, really — and writing Oprahfied books about what made you you doesn’t provide a crash course in statesmanship the way, say, executive experience does.

Beyond that, I guess we’ve learned one more thing about Obama that reminds us of Jimmy Carter: a disdain for the kind of courtesies given other Presidents by those who’ve held (or, in this case, will hold) the office.

Obama leaked to Sullivan and Kos? How odd. Obama ran the tightest campaign in memory. It really has been Bush that’s placed material with Drudge, Fox News, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc.

What could it possibly mean to Obama to leak this particular item, anyway? He’s been pushing for a bailout, the other guy hasn’t. Now it’s a leak that he’s pushing for a bailout, the other guy isn’t.

    Oh, the outrage. Not.

Boy, I wish the Right would get this riled up when Bushies leak the names of covert CIA agents, but no, instead, they lobby for PARDONS for treason.

    Pitiable.

Is there no shame? None? Nothing at all?

“Former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage acknowledged Thursday that he was the source who first revealed the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame to syndicated columnist Robert Novak back in 2003, touching off a federal investigation.’

    http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/08/leak.armitage/index.html

Armitage is certainly not a “Bushie”. But you, Glynn W, are a buffoon.

  • Cousin Dave

Glynn W., the only thing we’re ashamed of is having to read your appallingly ignorant comments.

  • Naqamel

instead, they lobby for PARDONS for treason.

    Like Marc Rich?

Or were you talking about Obama meeting with the Iraqi’s to try and thwart any troop reduction until after the election?

    Obama violated the Logan Act.

  • Glynn W.

Thanks Mer. Given your “prediction record” thus far – I very much appreciate any aspersions you can cast my way.

As you come from the Palin wing of the GOP, you probably can’t recall that Novak claimed several sources (Tim Russert directly revealed Libby as a source). And that your George Bush promised to fire anyone involved in the leak. You probably can’t understand either, that a simple question arises given the facts of the case.

That question, of course, is why hasn’t Dick “Five Deferment” Cheney been fired?

After all, Libby was found guilty in a court of law of quarterbacking a misinformation campaign about the Plame case from the Vice-President’s Office. Subsequently revealed information makes it plain that it was done with the Vice-President’s full knowledge (as well as the instigation of Karl Rove.) Bushie’s former press secretary wrote a whole big ole book about it.

Naturally, this means that all of them are guilty of treason.

Learn to read big words, Mer (and Naqamel and Cousin Dave). Then perhaps, one distant day, you can read up on the subject. After you have done that, then (and only then) feel free to call me names.

    Mer, Naq, Cousin Dave,

Just ignore Glynn. It’s obvious the putz comes here to start stupid crap. He’s not worth your time. Don’t react to him and maybe he’ll go play with the diaper-rash KosKids or the Huffpo leftnuts…Given his replies, it’s obvious that he hovers over this site to make snarky replies. Its kinda sad, since it’s not particularly constructive. I mean, I can understand reading up on a site that you enjoy and comment with fellow-minded posters. However, going onto a site to start crap is pretty juvenile.

  • Mr. Chuckles

    Mat,

Why don’t you just answer Glynn’s questions? Do you really think that Bushco had absolutely no knowledge of the Plame case? Are you really that naive? I guess it is easier for you to just say “oh, ignore him” rather than answer the question. The truth can be such a bitch sometimes…

C’mon Mat! Look for the answers-the truthiness will set you free!

(submitted by an independent voter for those who are ready with the “leftist” retort).

  • Cousin Dave

So-called “independent” voter Mr. Chuckles: Richard Armitage, an enemy of Bush, has publicly stated that he is the Plame leaker. And this has been confirmed by Robert Novak, the journalist who broke the story. You are plainly ignoring these FACTS because they don’t fit your pre-conceived notions. Karl Rove did not leak Plame’s name — he couldn’t have, because Novak already had Plame’s name before he asked Rove about it. All of this is a matter of public record. Google it. And besides, at the time, Plame wasn’t a covert agent anyway! She was a desk jockey analyst at Langley. She had had to be taken off of covert duty several years prior because her cover was blown by traitor Aldrich Ames. And prior to being named by Novak, she had appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair, under her real name and occupation. The whole Plame thing was concocted by the Left to distract attention from the fact that her husband, Joe Wilson, had not only been improperly assigned to the Niger yellowcake investigation due to Plame’s influence, but that he committed perjury in his testimony to the 9/11 Commission about it. His declassified debrief to the CIA proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Now, go ask about the leaks that the Left has engaged in during the Bush administration, which really have done serious damage to national security. To name two: the secret CIA airline, and the terrorist money transfer tracking system. The former leak resulted in a real-honest-to-God covert agent being murdered, and the latter probably set back progress in Iraq and Afghanistan at least a year. Now we’re talking really serious leaks. Where the the outrage on the Left about these? Oh no, that’s right, enemies of America benefitted from these leaks. That makes them OK where the Left is concerned.

  • Mr. Chuckles

    Cousin Dave,

This must be why Libby was convicted then. Thanks for clearing this up for me. I mean, it simply couldn’t be connected higher up, right? I didn’t realize that Libby was a rougue agent with no boss…

Where in any of my posts did I say that I condoned national security leaks? I was in the military for five years with a security clearance and I took my duty to safeguard all classified information very seriously. Sorry, but my criticism of Bushco does not equate to giving a pass to the left. Nice try.

And yes, I am a registered independent, but I guess in the little red book of Limbaugh that makes me the same (or worse) as all others you oppose. One thing I have found is that my staus as an independent is more despised by both left and right than if I were a GOP’er or a dem. So much for that “big tent” that the GOP is always going on about. I gave up on the dems, looks like it’s the same treatment over here…

  • Mat

See Cousin Dave? This is exactly what I mean. They have to get the last word in, no matter what it is. I’m sure Glynn will chime in with some dopey comment later on in the night, but Chuckles is a good enough example. The fact is you can fire facts at them until you’re blue in the face, and it doesn’t matter.

Who said anything about a big tent? That’s what got us into this mess to begin with. Where does anyone think the RINOs came from?
Independent is for suckers. I was that until this week. No use whatsoever.

Now Cousin Dave (and others), did the Republicans do some stupid things in the last eight years? Absolutely. That’s why we lost. If we’re smart, we’ll change the policies that got us elected out. If not, then we’ll continue to be the minority party. It’s as simple as that. I opt for going truly conservative and doing the right thing, myself, but we’ll see what the Party does.

You know, this guy will be meeting with foreign leaders soon; in fact, he can hardly wait.

By this action, he’s just told them he can’t be trusted with private and confidential information, that his word means nothing; it’s just noise.

I wonder if he even begins to comprehend that.
