What Bender said was correct. These systems only work if the terrorist is willing to answer questions. If he keeps his mouth shut, there is nothing for it to evaluate. This was never about the accuracy of statements; it was about getting statements in the first place. Once you have the info via whatever method, you can verify it through VSA.

Bender — Either you didn’t read the article or you didn’t comprehend what you read. CVSA works with 95-98 percent accuracy. Polygraph is, at best, 60-85 percent, and that’s stretching it.

But the problem really wasn’t/isn’t whether what they are saying is true or not, it is that they refuse to talk in the first place.

So they use the voice technology and tell KSM, “we caught you in a lie” – so what? Polygraphs and voice tests do nothing to get the info to begin with. Hence the need for other enhanced methods.
