> It is nigh to impossible to hide my own activities.

Well, there are and always have been those who will use reasonably available data to ease nefarious activities --

In Florida, they relaxed the concealed carry laws. As a result, more tourists were getting waylaid at public rest stops in this tourist-laden state (OOP! He's in Florida! lol). Why? Well, the crooks could not tell about residents, but the chances of a tourist (easily recognized because of either their out-of-state plates, or by the "I'm A Rental Car!" tags/bumper stickers) having a weapon was close to zero. Solution, of course, wasn't a federal program (gasp!!) nor a tightening of CC permits, but two-fold: First, they increased the amount of full-time security at public rest stops. Second, they did away with the identifying format of rental car tags (and rent-a-car agencies stopped using bumper stickers). Problem solved, now you're no more likely to get waylaid at a FL rest stop than any other.

I think, more critically, you need to use this awareness as a reason not to trust the Fed, or any government, with the security and safety of private info:
<a href="http://thedailywtf.com/Articles/Oklahoma-Leaks-Tens-of-Thousands-of-Social-Security-Numbers,-Other-Sensitive-Data.aspx" rel="nofollow">Oklahoma Leaks Tens of Thousands of Social Security Numbers, Other Sensitive Data</a>

The number of ways in which information can be misused is far greater than our ability to figure out ahead of time how one might do so. Best to keep information storage in the hands of those who can be sued for screwing up, and thus have a substantial vested interest in maintaining its security -- rather than trust in the competence of some unfireable government bureaucrat to maintain it.

> This is so true. I was on a conservative libertarian blog that had a decidedly misogynistic bent and I got chewed up, spit out, and blocked. It was like your comment about guys in 10 gallon hats; they will shoot you down if they don’t like what you say, or you don’t say it right.

By all means, link to that blog so we can make our own assessments. Otherwise, we only have your PoV of the place and its reaction to you.

In my experience, most "conservative" blogs only block people who are abusive, profane, and generally insulting to the people there in directly personal and unproductive ways. They don't generally block you for speaking something they disagree with philosophically.

That's not to deny your experience, only to say it was, at best, almost certainly atypical for a "conservative" or "libertarian" blog... or it may be that you came off as a troll, either intentionally or unintentionally.
