NY-23 Scozzafava Out, RNC And Newt Gingrich Back Hoffman

Good morning! And a good morning it is.

DeDe Scozzafava stepped down, gracefully. She may endorse Hoffman soon.

The RNC endorsed Doug Hoffman, the Conservative candidate. Chairman Steele calls a “Hoffman win, a GOP win.” Is the NRCC far behind? Time will tell.

So did Newt Gingrich. Matt Lewis puts him in the loser category, but doesn’t think he’ll suffer long-term. I’m not so sure about that.

Now, Hoffman and the Democrat are in a dead heat. Hoffman should win. The area is a very conservative. I know, difficult to imagine in New York, but it’s true.

Sarah Palin looks amazingly…..smart and prescient.

Erick Erickson is calling for a purge in the NRCC and RNC. He wants the establishment types to fall.

Darleen Click over at Protein Wisdom asks, “David Frum? Newt Gingrich? Peggy Noonan? Chris Buckley? David Brooks? Do you hear us now?“

Dave Weigel said via Twitter: “In the end, how much will Rs/Conservatives have spent to hold a safe R seat? $4 million?” But of course, that wasn’t the point of this election. Not entirely. The Republican base is sick of supporting anyone with an “R” behind his or her name when it means nothing. If a Republican holds liberal values, goes to Washington and votes like a Democrat, then what good is he or she? A 10% conservative vote does not help the Republican party.

Will a lesson be learned from this race? I hope so. America doesn’t need a third party. It needs a serious Republican party. Conservative ideas win. Establishment Republicans need to have some faith in their own beliefs.

    Your bullshirt campaign in NY23 isn’t doing anyone in the Republican party any good.
    What you’re managing is to take a rock-solid Republican district and screw it up for the Republicans at great expense and via trashing the Republican candidate.

    Yes, let’s let the Lib’s tell us who to run in what race? Isn’t that what got us into this mess we are in right now in the first place? Lib Dim’s and Lib RINO’s who couldn’t stop spending and spending and spending on all their little pet projects, and then telling us we shouldn’t be spending it on the Military – which by the way it EXACTLY what the Constitution says we should be spending it on.

    And disguised swearing really brings your point across.

    Man, you must camp out here waiting to make inane comments. Nothing is screwed up in NY23. A Conservative is going to win in a Conservative district. A Democrat with an R after her name would have screwed things up for Conservatives in the 23rd.

    Isn’t it one of your favorite quips? “There is no difference between Democrats and Republicans.” With Scozzafava, that would have been 98% true.

    Why does the endorsement of Newt and the RNC seem like somebody running to the front of the crowd and declaring themselves to be the leaders?
    True leaders would have selected the candidate based on principles and ideals and supported them despite the polls or focus groups.
    The days of the straight republican party vote are gone. Every candidate now has to espouse their personal beliefs and run on them. Just joining the R party will not mean that all R voters will fall in behind you.

    Things are great. The people of Virginia and New Jersey had the good sense to elect conservatives. I am guessing that is not what you were talking about though…

    I am happy with the result in NY23. The democrat won after being endorsed by the “Republican” quitter (I guess that was ok though because she wasn’t elected yet). It was a win on so many levels. 1) A RINO was so completely beaten that it didn’t even make it to election day. 2) A third party candidate lost even in an environment and district that should have embraced a Conservative. 3) The RNC and other establishment Republicans were sent a strong message.

    It was all good. Thanks for your concern though.

    Glad you’re happy with the result in NY23.
    If despite predicting incorrectly, and despite having ineptitude and fratricidal stupidity piss away a rock-solid seat, you’re happy, then that’s just the way I want you to remain.
    If losing with purity amuses you, that’s fine with the rest of us.
