Will Sarah Palin Still Run For Office From A Fox Studio? Will Huckabee?

Will Sarah Palin run for office from a Fox studio? Will Huckabee? Maybe. Could they? The answer, of course, is yes. Will they? Probably.

Some people are taking the news of Sarah Palin ending up on TV as proof that she has no presidential aspiration. To which I respond with the mature, “As if.”

Ex-governor Huckabee is sure as shootin’ running for the Presidency, or was, until the whole cop-killer thing happened. He still might. He believes that America needs him. Bad. And so does Sarah Palin. And so does Mitt Romney. And so does Newt Gingrich. And probably, so does Rick Perry. And Tim Pawlenty. The list goes on and on.

Ed Morrissey believes that Palin might put off her presidential hopes:

However, a multi-year deal may mean that Palin will wait to run for higher office. She could either go for the Senate or the presidency next, but either way, she’d have to start building a campaign no later than a year from now. Media outlets generally cut off analysts when they start building campaigns to avoid the necessity of giving opponents free air time for responses. A multiyear deal doesn’t preclude the possibility of entering into a campaign in 2011, but it indicates that Palin isn’t yet envisioning such a step.

That’s not necessarily a bad idea anyway. Palin is young and has plenty of opportunity to run for office, with 2016, 2020, and 2024 all being very realistic for her in terms of presidential campaigns. The Fox appearances will give her an opportunity to hone her craft while keeping expectations in check. Taking her time would be a smart move, and at least since her resignation from office, Palin has been making a series of smart moves.

Well. Time will tell. There is also something to be said for striking while the iron is hot. And right now, Sarah Palin is THE counter balance to Barack Obama. All of the other aforementioned folks wouldn’t be paid attention to at all if they operated like Sarah Palin and communicated via Facebook. And four years could turn into eight or even twelve years if the next president is Republican and I think he or she will be.

Do you think this a good move for Sarah Palin? Vote here now:

Sarah Palin as Fox News contributor is ….
A genius political move
Interesting but no big deal
Stupid, stupid, stupid

More importantly: When will she appear on ‘Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld”?

  • http://jasperjava.blogspot.com jasperjava

This will be a disaster for her. I’m reminded of the segments of “Weekend Update” with Gilda Radner as Roseanne Rosannadanna, expounding on a subject she knows nothing about, only to end with a cheery “never mind!” after the anchor corrects her. Is she going to share her extensive knowledge of the Korean peninsula’s history and politics? Her geographical knowledge? Her learned assessment of the situation in the Middle-East?

She will make a fool of herself and fall flat on her face. FOX will be desperate to void her contract before the year is out. They can no longer even pretend to be a serious news network after this.

Ahhhh jasper – you shouldn’t comment on things you know nothing about. Seems you have bought into the Alphabet Networks “image” of Gov. Palin. I’ll bet you also still think she said she can see Russian from her front porch too.

The Fox news gig might be just a perfect fit for Palin. Unlike Jasperjava, I think Palin has a perspective that will nicely expose the Obama administration’s socialist agenda. I also think Palin has probably forgotten more about energy and how to become free of foreign influence than Obama will ever know.

I welcome the very gifted Palin to Fox. It’s a good platform for her talent and skill set, will help support her family, will be a good rehabilitative experience politically, and I think she’ll be quite an asset.

If you want to see how “nice” the Democrat supports and Libs are, just journey over to the foxnews.com story about this and start reading the comments. The absolute vitriol and hatred that they have is almost hard to believe. This might actually be WORSE than Bush Derangement Syndrome. We now have Palin MEGA Derangement Syndrome – and some of it is probably mental institution material worthy – yes, it’s THAT bad.

What’s even funnier is the ones that try to sound like “good conservatives” and then bash Gov. Palin using the standard Lib talking points on how stupid and ignorant she is. (and some even quote the SNL lines as if they were the Gov’s)

Liberals, like George Stephanpolis get hired off the street, with no broadcast experiennce. Mrs. Palin has experience, local sports I think.

    Not a bad move.

  • fuster

mistake if she could have gotten an even remotely similar deal with another station.
she needs to shed the perceptions of herself as ignorant, inarticulate and overly partisan.
people are going to think that a gig on FOX means she’ll be spoon-fed her words and cosseted in any questions posed.

  • fuster

I still think her best move was to try for a semi-regular role on 30 Rock.

    .

    Well, yes.

Bush can’t run for anything even if he wanted to. So, he’s no threat.

    But, Sarah can and is.

So, naturally, they want to drive a stake through her heart right away, anyway they can.

Great move for Fox! She’ll attract viewers, and I suspect she’ll do just fine (someone above noted correctly she’s read the news before). We already knew she’s telegenic–she did just fine on SNL last year, and was sensational more recently with Conan and William Shatner.

Geez–who watches 30 Rock, other than Emmy judges? I don’t know anybody who does, and I never have … now Red Eye on the other hand, that is one funny show! I too would like to see her there!

  • fuster

I kinda think that your failure to understand why I suggested 30 Rock might have something to do with why you wouldn’t want to watch it and probably wouldn’t much enjoy it.
If you ever run into someone who does watch the show, ask them why it might have been suggested.
