The Tea Party Spirit Of Scott Brown’s Supporters

January 17, 2010 / 10:05 am • By Dr. Melissa Clouthier

I have heard twice now that Scott Brown’s supporters aren’t Tea Partiers, they’re Democrats and Independents. Who says that Democrats and Independents can’t believe in the spirit of the Tea Party? Nearly all Americans are disaffected with out-of-touch government leadership.

From Time:

“Given the often contrived and polarizing
conflict that dominates the cable-TV landscape, it would be easy, on
the outside looking in, to slap a Tea Party label on Brown’s
supporters. But most of those lunging for his hand were not lunatics
from the fringe, merely Democrats and Independents feeling bruised,
ignored and taken for granted by people in power.”

First, the Tea Party folks are not the fringe. They enjoy more approval than either the Republican or Democrat party. Second, on what planet do the media live? All Americans, of all political persuasions, are sick of the government. One only has to look at Nancy Pelosi’s approval ratings to know that she’s pretty universally reviled. Ditto Harry Reid. Do the delusional press think that only Tea Partiers are fed up and skewing these approval numbers?

Gottta love the disconnect. And THAT’S why I say that all incumbents, Democrat and Republican, should worry. The American people are disgusted. If I were a Republican Senator or Congressman, I wouldn’t be too smug. They’re likely to get primaried and ousted. This is happening everywhere.

The American People have had it. It’s not just fringy nut-bags like the media, and really, those in power, would like to imagine. It’s a “throw the bums out” year. There are a lot of bums.

You are right on when you say that not all people are Tea Party members. Many who are fed up with Congress are not active in protesting or even voicing an opinion. The MSM should look a little deeper and find the true depth of dissension. But, should they continue to down play the movement, they will be shocked come election day and find their so called experts are really nothing but elitist and are totally out of touch (just like most in Congress).

    GONE TOO FAR
Now, we have the petty bickering. As a nation, we have allowed ourselves to drift too far from our roots, those established when the Pilgrims arrived and when our system was codified by the 19th century Democrats from Jefferson, Madison on to Cleveland, as cited in The Changing Face of Democrats on Amazon.com and claysamerica.com. We’ve allowed the Old World ideas of Rousseau and Marx to infect our politics through the 20th century Democrats, and now we are paying the price for it. Whether we will regain our proven way again remains to be seen. Whether enough of the electorate will choose the New World way or stay the course being laid down by Obama and become just another nation ruled by the few elite over the wishes of the many with individual freedom a thing of the past is yet to be decided. America proved prosperity comes from freedom, not dictatorship. Claysamerica.com

Denying that tea partiers are on the fringe doesn’t make it less so.
