Here are two of academia's finest arguing that the Dems ought to ram the sick care insurance destruction bill through in spite of Brown.

"If there is a lesson in the Massachusetts vote, it is this: pass a bill. The nation needs reform. Democrats need an accomplishment. And Democratic activists and voters need a new cause: fixing reform, not abandoning it.

"Jacob S. Hacker and Daniel Hopkins are professors of political science at Yale and Georgetown universities, respectively." Figures.

Of course these two gentlemen have something congresspersons don't have...not yet anyway. They have tenure and safe chairs. They can forget this brave plan. Apparently, that they are recommending Dems in office commit career suicide does not occur to them.

It’s time public servants get back to the art of service and pay attention to the boss.

I seem to recall (from reading; I'm not THAT old :) ), that entertainer Will Rogers (about as simon-pure a democrat as you could find) liked to refer to members of congress as "the hired hands".

He seemed to have the right perspective (even if it was from the left).
