Congress’ Health Care Oversight May Hurt Their Own Coverage?

April 13, 2010 / 10:23 am • By Dr. Melissa Clouthier

Has a group ever more richly deserved this irony? From NRO:

In a new report, the Congressional Research Service says the law may have significant unintended consequences for the “personal health insurance coverage” of senators, representatives and their staff members. For example, it says, the law may “remove members of Congress and Congressional staff” from their current coverage, in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, before any alternatives are available. The confusion raises the inevitable question: If they did not know exactly what they were doing to themselves, did lawmakers who wrote and passed the bill fully grasp the details of how it would influence the lives of other Americans?

Does indeed beg the question.

This health care bill is going to be a noose around the necks of Democrats.

Guess they should have gotten someone to read the bill to them. :-)

(But, but, but… IT’S ALMOST 2400 PAGES!!! Twice as long as Stephen King’s “The Stand”, and nearly three times as long as “Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix”,… and far scarier!)

What is the justification for drafting a bill so long that it is almost impossible to expect it to be read and understood before being voted upon other than to hide within in it things that would never be accepted otherwise?

    As a follow up…

It’d be funny if it wasn’t so scary.

These are the same clowns who think that they should be in charge of almost every aspect of our lives.

    What’s even worse?

    We continue to re-elect them.

Let’s hope to God (and whatever good sense we may recover) that we do better this November.

It is indeed a true observation as to whether ad how the law and the recent reforms would affect the lives of countless Americans. More so because health insurance coverage can make such a big difference to everyone's lives.
