Scariest jobs graph via @elizcrum

Friday, July 16th, 2010

div class=Amp_Commentary_Wrapdiv class=Amp_Post_TextpThe scariest part of this is what is NOT noted: The number of people relying on the government for their livelihood. Couple the jobs misery with the increase in Social Security folks and you have a perfect economic shit storm.br /
br /
Underlying all this is systemic uncertainty. The Obama administration has created a hostile business environment that makes businesses unlikely to hire even when they have cash because they fear demand will be low and their tax obligations will increase./p/div/divdiv class=Amp_Content_Outerdiv class=Amp_Top_Wrapdiv class=Amp_Source_FirstspanAmplifyrsquo;d from a rel=clipsource target=_blank title=http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2010/07/the_scariest_jobs_graph_youve.html href=http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2010/07/the_scariest_jobs_graph_youve.htmlvoices.washingtonpost.com/a/span/div/divdiv class=Amp_Middle_Wrapblockquote class=Amp_Content_Item cite=http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2010/07/the_scariest_jobs_graph_youve.htmltable cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0trtddiv id=entryhead

Think Progress Uses Tea Party Infiltrator As Proof Tea Parties Are Racist [Video at link]

Friday, July 16th, 2010

div class=Amp_Commentary_Wrapdiv class=Amp_Post_TextpThe Left is so eager to make the case that the Right is racist, that they’re willing to make stuff up to prove it. Of the thousands of videos out there, of the hundreds of Tea Parties videotaped, there is zero evidence of racism. But this isn’t about racism, ultimately. This is about getting the Democrat base riled up, fearful and willing to vote now that Obama isn’t on the ticket. Trumping up a racism charge is the way to do that. It’s despicable./p/div/divdiv class=Amp_Content_Outerdiv class=Amp_Top_Wrapdiv class=Amp_Source_FirstspanAmplifyrsquo;d from a rel=clipsource target=_blank title=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29 href=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29confederateyankee.mu.nu/a/span/div/divdiv class=Amp_Middle_Wrapblockquote class=Amp_Content_Item cite=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29table cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0trtdh3 id=AutoGeneratedID-0Think Progress Ripped Content From Tea Party Video To Create Fraudulent Racism Vid/h3/td/tr/table/blockquotediv class=Amp_Content_Hr/divblockquote class=Amp_Content_Item cite=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29table cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0trtdp id=AutoGeneratedID-1Remember Activist 2, span id=IL_AD2the Saint Louis/span Team Party infiltrator, that claimed I’m a proud racist, I’m white?/p/td/tr/table/blockquotediv class=Amp_Content_Hr/divblockquote class=Amp_Content_Item cite=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29table cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0trtdp id=AutoGeneratedID-2It seems that Think Progress used a clip from this video, a video entitled a rel=nofollow href=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYfmShJe5MAfeature=player_embeddedProof that the Tea Party is not racist/a./p/td/tr/table/blockquotediv class=Amp_Content_Hr/divblockquote class=Amp_Content_Item cite=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29table cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0trtdp id=AutoGeneratedID-3The guys at SharpElbows.Net thwarted this infiltrator, a rel=nofollow href=http://sharpelbowsstl.blogspot.com/2010/04/dem-shill-wears-nazi-gear-to-tea-party.htmlheavily documenting/a his attempt to mingle with Tea Party protesters in Saint Louis. /p/td/tr/table/blockquotediv class=Amp_Content_Hr/divblockquote class=Amp_Content_Item cite=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29table cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0trtdp id=AutoGeneratedID-4Think Progress misrepresented everything this video and the Tea Party stands for, and against./p/td/tr/table/blockquotediv class=Amp_Content_Hr/divblockquote class=Amp_Content_Item cite=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29table cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0trtdp id=AutoGeneratedID-5If staffers, including editor-in-chief Faiz Shakir should not be terminated for this behavior, I’d like to know why./pspan class=Amp_Source_Buttona rel=clipsource target=_blank title=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29 href=http://confederateyankee.mu.nu/archives/303685.php?utm_source=twitterfeedutm_medium=twitterutm_campaign=Feed%3A+ConfederateYankee+%28Confederate+Yankee+Blog%29Read more at confederateyankee.mu.nu/a/span/td/tr/table/blockquote/divdiv class=Amp_Bottom_Wrapnbsp;/div/divdiv class=Amp_LinkSee this Amp at a href=http://bit.ly/da2qqKhttp://bit.ly/da2qqK/a/divbr/

Podcast: MSM Bias Against The Tea Party Movement & A Class-Action Lawsuit Against The Government Over Health Care Reform

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

This podcast will make your blood boil and encourage you at the same time. Richard Noyes of the Media Research Center talks about their analysis of media coverage of the Tea Party. In the second half, Van Irion talks about his Congressional race and the Class Action suit to consider Health Care Reform unconstitutional. Interesting discussion of Federalism, too.

Some highlights from the research:

After reviewing every mention of the Tea Party on ABC, CBS and NBC morning and evening newscasts and Sunday talk shows, the MRC found the below alarming trends, statistics and comparisons with other political protests.  Highlights:

Miniscule Coverage

§                                 ABC, CBS and NBC aired a mere 61 stories or segments about the Tea party over a 12-month period despite the movement’s demonstrated political force

§                                 Another 141 items included brief references to the movement

§                                 Networks virtually refused to recognize the Tea Party in 2009 (just 19 stories) with coverage increasing only after Scott Brown’s election in Massachusetts

No Comparison to Liberal Protests

§                                 The Nation of Islam’s “Million Man March” in 1995 was featured in 21 evening news stories on just the night of the march – more than the Tea Party received in all of 2009

§                                 The anti-gun “Million Mom March” in 2000 was preceded by 41 broadcast network reports heralding its message with a dozen positive pre-march interviews w/ organizers and participants

§                                 This promo favor was never granted to the Tea Party

Smeared as Extreme Racists

§                                 After the Sept. 12, 2009 rallies, networks suggested the Tea Party was an extreme or racist movement (see report for examples)

§                                 44% of network stories (27 out of 61) suggested the movement reflected a fringe or dangerous quality (see report for examples)

§                                 Network reporters strained to protect left-wing causes (such as the anti-war movement)  from the outrageous acts of individual protesters, but no such effort was made for the Tea Party

It’s a Tea Party bonanza!

Who’s More Evil? Google Or The U.S. Government? Governments Chief Information Officer Gets Exposed By Google Buzz

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

It’s a tough call about who is more evil: the government or Google. In this case, it looks like their evilness canceled each other out and became a greater good!

Breitbart has the story:

Well, now we’ve learned that one of those who apparently got swept up in the Buzz privacy imbroglio was none other than Andrew McLaughlin, the controversial Deputy Chief Technology Officer in the Obama White House who was formerly Google’s top lobbyist.

McLaughlin works in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and is in charge of all Internet policy for the Administration. The two key components of OSTP’s mission are the creation of an “Open and Transparent Democracy”, and ironically, “Safeguarding the Privacy of Every American” by … “holding businesses accountable for violations of personal privacy.” (More on this in a moment.)

McLaughlin’s Buzz profile (which he quickly made private after his contacts were exposed) is enlightening to say the least. It includes a treasure trove of movers and shakers in high-tech, Internet public policy, and venture capital circles.

But it includes much, much more. At least 28 of the folks Google Buzz pulled from McLaughlin’s Gmail contact list are employed by…Google! And, as you can see from the screenshots below (captured before he made his contact lists private) McLaughlin’s Gmail appears to include a “who’s who” of Google senior lobbyists and lawyers from across the globe:

This story should disturb everyone and surprise no one.

Every totalitarian government have those complicit with their aims. With a statist in charge, Google has found a natural partner in their ownership desires.

In this case, the government got bit by the Google bug. They’ll refine their methods. This kind of information sharing is only good as long as it’s your privacy being violated.

Men: It Depends

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

So Fausta asks about this study about manly men versus more feminine men. The feminine man she brought up was one of my faves: Orlando Bloom. She contrasted Orlando with Sean Connery. Ew. Connery strikes me as an ornery axxhole–just not very nice. Now Orlando? Well, the research talks about strong jaws and brow lines. Orlando actually has both–he’s just long and lanky and more manicured. He is also a vegetarian–which, I admit is a downside. Is he a girly man?

I’m thinking back to Paul Newman as a younger man. He was hotness until the day he died. Pure yum. He raced cars. He walked like a badass. He had the smirk. But he didn’t strike me as jerk. Cool Hand Luke….manly, right? Or what about Clint Eastwood at all ages? Or Johnny Cash? Manly, hot, badness.

And, as a woman, are you gonna get a certain type based on how they look? I mean, does the square jaw, broad face, dense muscles get you a worse kind of man…like Sandra Bullock‘s Jesse James? But Tiger Woods isn’t all that broad-faced guy…so no guarantees. And what about John Edwards? He’s the classic fem guy…I wouldn’t count on a feminine face.

Women like what they like. In the Western world, it might not mean survival but it might mean satisfaction.

Oh NOW Lib Journalists Urge Health Care Reform Caution

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

What loathsome creatures. For months the press has been cheerleading and now they carry water to manage expectations? Read Ruth Marcus’ latest and fume:

In fact, the occasion called for more humility than hyperbole, however unlikely that may have been given the setting. If I were a member of Congress, my floor speech before casting a yes vote would have boiled down to:

Gee, I hope this works.

One of the astonishing aspects of the health-care debate is how little is actually known about the implications of a change this far-reaching. Everyone has a theory, and a model to match, but even some of the most fundamental questions remain the subject of debate.

You know, the press loved Obamacare even though none of them knew what was in it. They wanted President Obama to have a win. So now he has it and they have it. One could not exist without the other. So Ruth Marcus and her ilk can put a sock in it.

When all the bad things happen, that she fears might happen, she can take the credit she deserves.

Remember When Hillary Clinton Was Shrieking Down This Health Care Road?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

I don’t know if the legislation got this far down the road last time around or not, but I remember lots of weeping and gnashing of teeth and blathering of “for the children” mantras.

Once again, Democrats have been done in by their legislative and punitive greed. Even if this bill passes, it will be at horrible cost to the Democrat brand–one that had been somewhat rehabilitated by the policies of Bill Clinton (although undermined by his personal character).

Bill Clinton could hide behind the skirts of Hillary on health care. Barack Obama may try to hide behind Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid, but it won’t fly.

Something To Warm Your Heart Before The Scott Brown And What’s Her Name Special Election

Monday, January 18th, 2010

A profoundly distressed Andrew Sullivan:

I can see no alternative scenario but a huge – staggeringly huge – victory for the FNC/RNC machine tomorrow. They crafted a strategy of total oppositionism to anything Obama proposed a year ago. Remember they gave him zero votes on even the stimulus in his first weeks. They saw health insurance reform as Obama’s Waterloo, and, thanks in part to the dithering Democrats, they beat him on that hill. They have successfully channeled all the rage at the massive debt and recession the president inherited on Obama after just one year. If they can do that already, against the massive evidence against them, they have the power to wield populism to destroy any attempt by government to address any actual problems.
This is a nihilist moment, built from a nihilist strategy in order to regain power … to do nothing but wage war against enemies at home and abroad.

What comes next will be a real test for Obama. I suspect serious health insurance reform is over for yet another generation.

If this is any indication of the gnashing of teeth after a Scott Brown win, it will be a sweet victory, indeed.
